Matthew believes in finding creative solutions to challenging problems. Mediation necessarily involves negotiation and compromise. You cannot get everything that you might want. Nevertheless, Matthew's goal is for both parties to be satisfied with the mediation process and accepting of the final result.
The mediator's key to helping parties is to understand their individual goals. The mediator can then search for common ground or find opportunities that allow both sides to benefit. Matthew can draw on his experience to fashion proposed solutions that benefit the parties and their children. In many cases where the parties are seemingly entrenched, there are compromises available that meet everyone's needs. This is equally true whether the issues concern parenting or finances.
A good mediator will find an arbitrage opportunity and use it to benefit everyone.
